Class 1 Wash Day

Class 1 have been washing the way they did in the olden days. First of all we had to get some pretend carbolic soap because real carbolic soap hurts your hands. We got a tin bucket, a posser, a washboard and a pair of tongs. We filled the tin bucket with water using little buckets. Next we got some soap and tea towels and we put them in the water. Meanwhile Mrs Wood brought some warm water and poured it in to our tin bucket. We scrubbed the tea towels on the washboard, with soap. The soap had a very bumpy ride because the washboard has lots of ridges on it. After that, we took the tea towels outside and we rinsed them with a posser. Next we twisted and squeezed out the left over water. Finally, we hung the tea towels on the washing line outside to dry.
