Class 3 Merrydale Art Day

On Monday 11th June, 2 artists visited class 3 at Wilberlee. Their names were Bronwyn and Jan. They were sisters.

After they had introduced themselves they showed us how to make a frottage (rubbing). After that they asked us to go outside with different colours of wax-crayons and do 10 or more of our own frottage's.

When we came back inside Mrs Gallagher sorted us into groups of 4.
Then we cut our frottage's into shapes and made a big monster in our groups. They were really good.
We got some paper off Jan and picked out some wax crayons and something to put underneath our paper. Then we rubbed as hard as we could. Next we cut out all our frottages and in our groups we made a huge animal that you would find in Merrydale.
After play we came in and Jan and Bronwyn asked us to draw the outline of our creatures in wax crayon and then filled it with patterns and then ink it in using different colours. The colours blended in and they looked really cool.
Next we went out into the playground to do some magic light paper. We designed a pattern out of leaves, feathers, buttons and net. Then we put the patterns very quickly on the cloth and waited a few minutes for them to develop in the sun. Then we went back in the class room to have a look at them.
To finish off the whole class made a monster with their prints. It was really fun and we enjoyed our day!
