The beach at Filey was beautiful with golden sand and blue sea, but it smelt a bit fishy. We all enjoyed trying to build the best ever sand castle. Our finished models ranged from fairy princess castles to gory battlefields.

After hours of making sand mountains and finding dead crabs, we were finally alowed to go in the sea, so we raced down the sand dunes like marbles rolling down a hill. We drove our teacher mad by going in to the sea and getting absolutely soaked. What made her even more mad was that some daft little individuals got soaked and didn?t bring any spare clothes so they had to walk around like drowned rats for the rest of the afternoon. Luckily for them the sun was out so they dried quickly.

When we went to filey we were given a sheet of pictures of places and objects to
Find. To find some of the pictures we had to walk on the promenade. We saw a drinking fountain that was made in 1800 when Queen Victoria was on the throne. As we were walking we came across a stone that said could you find 50 silver shells they were hidden all over even on benchers. It was to represent the Royal parade.
Some were hard than others. The hard one was to find fileys mine, it was found in the water bobbing up in World War 2. It is now used to collect money for the fishermen society.

The coble landing is the first sign of what you could call civilization if you come from the brigg. There is still the smell of the ocean and fresh fish even now in this old fishing village. In total there were about four shops on the landing but there is almost everything you need from sun cream to mini golf sets, rubber dingies, footballs even an amusement arcade for that inevitable rainy day. The cobbles are still used for fishing but no longer take you for tours of the bay. If you want to take to the water you?ll need to join the sailing club.

When Wilberlee School went to Filey Brigg they saw and found lots of different sea side features including:
Shrimps, Crabs,Hermit Crabs, Sea gulls, Sea snails, Sea Urchins, Rocks and shells and lots of slippery SEA WEED as one of the children found out when they ended up in a rock pool!
